“Johnny Appleseed” is coming to Stephens Auditorium on Oct. 4 for two matinee performacnces at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. This rousing, humorous frontier musical is part rollicking adventure, part inspiring history and 100 percent All-American.

John Chapman, better known as Johnny Appleseed, was as kind as he was generous and was a folk hero when Ohio was the Wild West.

Born in Massachusetts in 1774, Johnny and his new country grew up together and the apple orchards he planted throughout Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois played a major role in our nation’s settlement. Audiences will be inspired by Johnny Appleseed’s lifelong trek as he acquires his first apple seeds, plants apple trees, and makes a life in his beloved outdoors. His story mixes legend and history, and the result is completely compelling.
