Marshalltown Police have arrested two people in connection with an armed robbery at the Marshall Town Center Wednesday.
Andrew Xavier Ramirez, 22, is charged with first-degree robbery, a Class B Felony, going armed with intent and possession of a firearm, both Class D felonies.
Frances Tillie Gasca, 23, is charged with identity theft, an aggravated misdemeanor, forgery, a Class D felony, unauthorized use of a credit card, an aggravated misdemeanor and ongoing criminal conduct, Class B felony.
The pair was arrested Thursday morning in Marshalltown when an off-duty police officer spotted a vehicle that had shown up in surveillance photos. The victim’s credit card had been used in Marshalltown and the Des Moines area.
The armed robbery occurred just before noon Wednesday, according to the Marshalltown Police Department.
The woman said she was heading into an east entrance of the mall when two men brandishing what she believed was a handgun approached her. The suspects took the victim’s purse and fled east from the mall area.
Police say the investigation continues and one suspect is still at large.
