Two arrested in rural burglary

Two Marshalltown men have been arrested in connection with a burglary in rural Marshall County.

Jeremy Carroll, 34, and Billy Bob Versteegh, 21, are charged with stealing a pickup truck and a dirt bike from a shed in rural Liscomb on Monday.

Following the report, a witness tipped off the Marshall County Sheriff’s office on Tuesday when they spotted the vehicle and the two men near 706 Wood St.

Carroll was arrested for an outstanding warrant for third-degree theft, and Versteegh fled the scene, according to a press release.

Carroll was charged with first-degree theft, second-degree burglary and third-degree burglary.

Versteegh was found Thursday by officers and charged with first-degree theft and two counts of interference with official acts for causing minor injuries to two police officers.

Both men remain in the Marshall County Jail as the investigation continues.
