Man assaults pregnant girlfriend

A local man who allegedly pushed, dragged and pinned down his 36-week pregnant girlfriend has been arrested.

A warrant was issued for Cody L. Workman, 28, after the alleged incident took place at their home, on the 500 block of E. Boone St., at about 2 a.m. Thursday.

According to police, the two were arguing about their relationship when the woman decided to go to bed. It was then that Workman allegedly took her purse, emptied it in the trash can, stole her phone and then left. He later came back with her phone and the argument continued and escalated to the assault. After the alleged attack, he fled from the home.

The victim sought treatment for pain in her lower abdomen and hips and was taken to the hospital.

Later that afternoon police picked Workman up on the warrant and he was arrested for serious domestic assault and fifth degree-criminal mischief.
