Man pleads not guilty in teen shooting
A Marshalltown man accused of shooting a teenager in the head has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder.
Daniel Lott, 32, who entered the plea Friday, is also demanding a speedy trial.
Lott was charged following a Sept. 10 incident in which Mario Murrillo, 17, arrived at the local emergency room with a gunshot wound to the head. According to court documents, Murrillo told police he was shot in an alley north of the 600 block of West State Street as he was trying to run away from a gunman.
Murrillo later identified Lott as the shooter after being shown a photo lineup, according to court documents.
Lott was arrested one week after the shooting, and five days after a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Lott is also charged with willful injury and first-degree robbery.
Details of Murrillo’s injuries have not been made public, however, police said at the time of the shooting that he was expected to make a full recovery.
Lott remains at the Marshall County Jail on a $500,000 cash bond.
