Salvation Army asks for turkey, ham donations
The Salvation Army needs 200 hams and 200 turkeys to put in their Christmas baskets, so far they have zero.
“We’re putting a plea out there that we need 200 turkeys and 200 hams for our Christmas baskets,” Major Beth Stillwell of the Salvation Army said. “The food we have now is going to be used for the Thanksgiving community meal. As soon as we get them all cooked we’ll be down to none for Christmas.”
About 400 Christmas baskets will be given to families that have applied for Christmas assistance.
“If anyone wants to donate they could donate to the Salvation Army,” Stillwell said. “If they need us to come and pick up the ham or turkey we will be more than happy to or they could deliver it to our building.”
Donations are being accepted until Dec. 20. The Salvation Army is located at 107 W. State St.
