‘Family comes first for Rick’
Rick Glenn has fought many opponents in his mixed martial arts career, but he recently came up against perhaps his toughest – cancer.
Glenn, a mixed martial arts fighter from Marshalltown who resides in Milwaukee, has withdrawn from a Dec. 7 World Series of Fighting featherweight title fight against Georgi Karakhanyan in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
Glenn withdrew because his sister, Aubry, of Marshalltown, is struggling in her battle against cancer, said Shaun White of Marshalltown, Glenn’s manager.
“Aubry’s worsening condition has been on Rick’s mind as he trained for the biggest fight of his career,” White said. “He felt it best to withdraw to help Aubry and his family during this difficult time. Family comes first for Rick.”
