Continuation of resource officer approved by School Board

The Marshalltown School Board approved the continuation of an agreement with the Marshalltown Police Department for a school resource officer at Marshalltown High School.

The approval occurred at a regular board meeting held Monday at Hoglan Elementary School.

The school district shares the cost of the police officer with the MPD. The officer, who is currently Kraig Lageschulte, has an office at MHS and is there to boost security.

“We see that as a good investment,” said Superintendent Marvin Wade.

In other action, the board approved the MHS Project Lead the Way renovation as substantially complete. The new PLTW labs have been in use for a few weeks.

The board also toured Hoglan as part of the brief meeting Monday.

The next regular meeting of the school board will be at 5 p.m. Dec. 16 in the board room at district offices.
