C. Collette Andersen, 84, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2013, at home under the care of Iowa River Hospice with her daughter by her side.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on, Friday, December 6, 2013, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the family. Carol Collette Callahan Andersen was born on June 26, 1929 in Minot, North Dakota. She was the daughter of Daniel and Vivian (Kelly) Callahan. Collette attended school in Marshalltown graduating with the class of 1947. She attended Northern Iowa Teachers College. Collette was united in marriage to B. Donald Andersen. Collette and Don lived in Marshalltown where they raised their family. She and Don had 5 children with 4 under the age of 2. As a busy mom, Collette still enjoyed cooking and was a wonderful cook. She enjoyed spending weekends at the family trailer on the Iowa River near Albion. When her children were in high school she worked part-time in the office at JC Penney. Collette was a member of St Mary’s Catholic Church and helped with funeral lunches for many years along with teaching Religious Education. Collette enjoyed playing bridge, dancing, fishing, watching sports, refinishing furniture and always enjoyed a good book.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Don, Dubuque IA, Shawn (Tim) Kyndesen, Prairie Village KS, Brad (Barbara), San Francisco CA, Karen Cathelyn, Geneseo IL and Kirk (Lori), Chandler AZ. Grandchildren: Stacey (Mike) Blakeman, Lawrence KS, Eric (Stephanie) Cathelyn, Carmel IN, Laura Cathelyn, Des Moines IA, Kelly (Taylor) Currie, Gypsum, KS, Donnie Andersen, Denver CO, Lisa Cathelyn, Minneapolis MN. Great-grandchildren: Lilly and Hunter Cathelyn, Carmel IN and Baby Girl Blakeman, Lawrence KS to arrive April 2014.

Husband Don preceded her in death March 3, 1985. Also proceeded in death by: Parents: Dan and Vivian Callahan, Brothers: Dan and Terry Callahan, Sister in law: Beverly Callahan, Son in law: Vern Cathelyn.
