ISU’s Johnson earns Big 12 freshman of week honor
IRVING, Texas – For the second straight week, Iowa State women’s basketball player Seanna Johnson has been named Big 12 Conference Freshman of the Week for her play on the hardwood.
Johnson performed well in the South Point Shootout in Las Vegas, Nev., this past weekend as her 18.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game earned her a spot on the all-tournament team.
She had a career-high 20 points, eight rebounds and five assists in the opener against Eastern Washington and then followed that up with 17 points and five boards against Auburn.
This is the third Big 12 honor for the 20th ranked Cyclone women this season. Hallie Christofferson also was named Big 12 Player of the Week earier this season.
Undefeated Iowa State returns to the court Wednesday when it takes on instate rival Northern Iowa at Hilton Coliseum. Tipoff is 7 p.m.
