Council talks airport planning project
The city council discussed upcoming projects part of the capital improvement plan for the Marshalltown Municipal Airport at its meeting Monday night.
Bill Grabe, project manager for Clapsaddle-Garber Associates (CGA), an engineering and land surveyors firm, said the capital improvement plan is divided into a short-range and intermediate-range project.
The short-term project is maintenance to a hangar scheduled for fiscal year 2016. The intermediate project is pavement rehabilitation, scheduled toward the end of the five year planning period in 2019.
“This is the planning process we go through every year about this time,” Grabe said. “It’s required by FAA to have a capital improvement plan in place and projects identified that we want to accomplish in order to be eligible for the FAA funding.”
The funding from the Federal Aviation Administration is from a grant and will cover 90 percent of the project costs.
