Hilleman wins title, WM wrestlers finish in fourth
MOUNT VERNON Propelled by one champion and a pair of runner-ups, the Class 1A No. 9 ranked West Marshall wrestling team placed fourth out of 12 squads with 149 points at the Mount Vernon Invitational Saturday.
The host team topped the field with 220 points finishing 3.5 points ahead of Independence. Lisbon edged out the Trojans by a point for third.
No. 7 ranked Dale Hilleman (170) finished 3-0 on the day with two wins by fall and a 3-1 sudden victory over Trey Ryan of Mount Vernon.
Ross Randall and Jared Johnson added second place performances at 106 and 150 pounds respectively. Randall finished 2-1 with a pin and one win by decision. Johnson posted a 3-1 record tallying a pin.
No. 5 ranked Cole Needham (120), Cooper White (126) and Chris Sjoblom (182) each garnered third for West Marshall.
The Trojans head to Dike to battle Dike-New Hartford and Jesup in a double dual Thursday.
