Andrew and Dani Haskenhoff, of Cedar Rapids, are the parents of a son, Camden Jeffrey Haskenhoff, born at 1:39 a.m. on Dec.12 at St. Luke’s Hospital, weighing 8 pounds, 9.4 ounces. Grandparents are Jeff and Brenda Arnold, of State Center, and Kevin and Caroline Bemiss, of West Union. Great grandparents are Joe and Bea Arnold, of State Center, Raymond and Wanda Smith, of Laurel, Lois and Willet Miller, of Clermont, and Gary and Cathy Bemiss, of West Union.

Regan and Susan Hennis, of Normal, Ill., welcomed son, Beckett Lee Hennis, born on July 17. Beckett joins a sister Clare, 4. Grandparents are Howard and Merikay Hennis and Mike and Share Miriovsky, all of Marshalltown. Great grandmother is Kate Martin, of David City, Neb.

Sarah (Mroz) and Adam Bergeson, of Cedar Rapids, welcomed home their first born son, Parker Reid, on Dec. 20 weighing 7 pounds, 11 ounces and measuring 20.75 inches in length. Grandparents are Karen and Steve Mroz and Greg and Sue Bergeson.

Donald Hall, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a driving while revoked charge, a no insurance charge and a failure to carry registration card charge. John Haney will act as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Jan. 13. Hall was released on his own recognizance.

Jose Martinez, 1015 E. South St., made an initial appearance for child endangerment charge, a possession of marijuana charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. The public defender’s office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Jan. 13. Martinez was released with supervision through the Department of Correctional Services and is to report to sign a pre-trial release form within 72 hours. The court ordered that a copy of a previously obtained substance abuse evaluation be submitted to the court within 60 days of today’s date as a requirement of this case.

Incidents

On Dec. 18, Kent William Johnson, of Clemons, reported the theft of approximately 200 gallons of gasoline from his residence. Estimated value of loss was $800.

On Dec. 12, an employee with Rhodes Bar, of Rhodes, reported damage to a back door and the theft of cash from an ATM machine. Estimated value of loss was $2,249.

Arrests

On Dec. 20, Mindy Lynn Reed, 401 N. 14th Ave. Apt. #1, and Homeless was arrested for voluntary absence from custody, a probation revocation and domestic abuse assault.

On Dec. 19, Jamie Ceajay Degner, 3219 150th St., was arrested for operating while intoxicated-second offense and failure to maintain control.

On Dec. 19, Tyler Jay Pollock, 201 N. Third St., was arrested for failure to appear.

On Wednesday, Dec. 18, Jaime Lea Wheeler, 301 Plaza Heights Road, was arrested for violation of a no-contact order.

Accidents

On Sunday, a car driven by Thomas Joseph Schaefer, 3506 Merritt Road, was northbound on Wallace Avenue when it went out of control on the snow covered roadway and entered the west ditch causing disabling damage to the rear quarter panel. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Schaefer car was estimated at $6,500.

On Dec. 20, a vehicle driven by a 17-year-old male juvenile, of Albion, was northbound on Sanford Avenue at the intersection with 160th Street when it attempted a left hand turn in the path of a vehicle driven by Cody William Anderson, 1812 S. Third Ave., which was traveling south on Sanford Avenue and the two vehicles collided. No injuries were reported. The 17-year-old was cited for failure to yield upon left turn. Damage to the juvenile’s vehicle was estimated at $4,500 while the Cody Anderson vehicle received an estimated $6,000 in damage.

On Dec. 20, a pickup driven by Tanner Wray Davis, of Rhodes, was southbound on Durham Avenue approaching the stop sign at the intersection with 295th Street when, due to icy road conditions, it was unable to stop and entered the intersection where it collided with a car driven by James Lyle Littrel, of Rhodes, which was traveling east on 295th Street and couldn’t stop. Littrel was possibly injured, but not transported. Damage to the Davis pickup was estimated at $500 while the Littrel car received an estimated $5,000 in damage.

On Dec. 20, a pickup driven by William Rabbit Joseph Hiles, 411 W. Madison St., was eastbound on Highway 30 when it went out of control on the icy road, entered the median and rolled coming to rest on its wheels. Hiles was injured, but not transported. Damage to the Hiles pickup was estimated at $5,000.

On Dec. 20, a minivan driven by Eric Joshua Mount, 3202 S. 12th St. Lot #16, was southbound on Marsh Avenue approaching 160th Street when the icy road conditions caused it to leave the traveled portion of the roadway and enter the south ditch where it rolled and came to rest on its top. Mount was transported to Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center with injuries. Damage to the Mount minivan was estimated at $4,000.

On Dec. 20, a vehicle driven by Marc Robert Beenken, of Buckingham, was southbound on Wallace Avenue when it went out of control on the icy roadway and entered the west ditch where it rolled onto the passenger side. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Beenken vehicle was estimated at $5,000.

On Dec. 19, a car driven by Jamie Ceajay Degner, 3219 150th St., was southbound on Zeller Avenue when it swerved to miss a deer in the roadway, went out of control, struck a utility guide wire and rolled before coming to rest against a barn owned by Raymond Furrow, 1419 Zeller Ave. No injuries were reported. Degner was transported to the Marshall County Jail. Degner was cited for operating while intoxicated-second offense and failure to maintain control. Damage to the Degner car was estimated at $5,000 while the guide wire received an estimated $500 in damage and the Furrow barn an estimated $1,500 in damage.

Arrests

On Monday, Juan Carlos Martinez, 1015 E. South St., was arrested for possession of a Schedule II controlled substance with the intent to deliver-meth, prohibited acts, possession of a Schedule I controlled substance-marijuana, child endangerment and theft-second degree.

On Monday, Chelsie Rene Vasquez, 1015 E. South St., was arrested for child endangerment without injury, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a Schedule I controlled substance-marijuana.

On Monday, Elizabeth Marie Padron, 1015 E. South St., was arrested for possession of a Schedule I controlled substance-marijuana.

On Monday, Jose Luis Martinez, 1015 E. South St., was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a Schedule I controlled substance-marijuana.

On Monday, Carey Ann Meling, 312 W. Boone St. Apt. #1, was arrested for prohibited acts, possession of a Schedule I controlled substance-marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Monday, Skoky Gene Strohm, 312 W. Boone St., Apt. #1, was arrested for possession of a Schedule I controlled substance-marijuana, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance-meth with the intent to deliver, tax stamp violation and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Accidents

On Monday, a vehicle driven by Michael Todd Zimmerman, 2810 Zeller Ave., was westbound in the north side lane of East Church Street approaching the intersection with South First Avenue when it quickly changed lanes to turn south onto First Avenue and collided with a vehicle driven by Larry Gene Beck, of Gilman, which was traveling west on East Church Street in the south lane. No injuries were reported. Zimmerman was cited for failure to yield upon left turn. Damage to the Zimmerman vehicle was estimated at $900 while the Beck vehicle received an estimated $750 in damage.

On Monday, a semi with a livestock trailer attached driven by Randy Ray Philbrook, of Webster City, was southbound on Third Avenue turning west onto Anson Street when as a result of having to swing wide for the turn it collided with a car driven by Jerry Lee Gummert, 1409 W. Linn St., which was also making a left turn from Third Avenue onto Anson Street unaware till the last minute of the semi’s turn. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Gummert car was estimated at $2,500.
