Tama Co. board proposes 3 percent wage increase
The Tama County Compensation Board was at the Tama County Supervisors meeting Monday to present its recommendations for wages in 2014 regarding those in elected positions.
Nick Podhajsky, Traer, and Jim Little, Toledo, were present to explain to the supervisors what the committee had discussed. The recommendation was a 3 percent raise across the board. Podhajsky said the entire group discussed economic situations, as well as salaries of similar counties. They felt the 3 percent raise was a fair recommendation.
Those serving on the compensation board include James Roan representing County Attorney Brent Heeren, Les Koch representing County Auditor Laura Kopsa, Janice Bazal representing County Recorder Deb Kupka, Dave Forbes representing Sheriff Dennis Kucera, Lesa Haughey representing County Treasurer Deb Kupka and Jim Little and Nick Podhajsky representing the Board of Supervisors.
The board of supervisors will take the recommendation into consideration and will come to a conclusion when working on the county budget for the coming year.
The next meeting will be the organizational meeting for the 2014 year. This will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the Tama County Board of Supervisors room. This is required by law to have the organizational meeting the first working day following the New Year’s holiday.
