Pauline V. Hartman, 84
Pauline V. Hartman, 84, of Marshalltown, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, at MMSC. Her death came peacefully at 12:01 p.m. with her family at her side.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 on Saturday, January 4th, at the Redeemer Lutheran Church with Pastor Alex Post officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7:00 p.m. Friday, January 3rd, at the Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1600 South Center Street in Marshalltown. A prayer service will follow the visitation. Memorials may be directed to her family, Redeemer Lutheran Church or the YM/YWCA Heritage Club.
Born Pauline Handorf on March 25th, 1929, in Marshalltown, she was the daughter of Raymond and Clara (Bruchlacher) Handorf. She graduated from the Marshalltown High School and later the Marshalltown Junior College.
On March 31, 1951, she was united in marriage to Robert Hartman at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Dillon. They made their home in Marshalltown where she was active in the community. Most of her career was spent at the YWCA as youth director and then director of the YWCA until retiring in 1996. She was a faithful member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church, PEO Chapter NU, the Assistance League, Hawthorne Club, Rotary International, Board of the local Thrivent Financial (formerly AAL), YMCA/YWCA Heritage Club and Building committee as well as playing on area bridge clubs. Pauline also enjoyed fishing in summer, playing bridge, hosting Y bus trips and tours, cooking, sewing, gardening, and was an avid Cubs fan and treasured her grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory are Robert, her loving husband of 62 years, her daughter Paulla Hartman, her son Robert (Janet) Hartman; grandchildren- Robert Hartman, Amie (Andrew) Wold, Ryan Hartman (fianc Becky), and Ted Hartman as well as two sisters- Myrna Burmester and Carol (Bruce) Thatcher and sister-in-law Eleanor Handorf.
In death, Pauline rejoined her parents Raymond and Clara Handorf, brother Wilmer Handorf, and brothers-in-law Dallas Burmester and George Hartman and her mother-in-law Elizabeth Hartman and father-in-law Edmund Hartman.
