SPORTS SHORTS: Southeast Polk JV rolls past MHS girls

PLEASANT HILL – Rachel Whaley and Kyra Hungerford both reached double figures but the Marshalltown junior varsity girls’ basketball team lost to Southeast Polk, 69-32, on Friday night.

Whaley scored 13 points and Hungerford added 10, but no other Bobcat had more than Lexi Gimbel’s six points in the loss.

Bobcat sophomores fall to host Rams

PLEASANT HILL – Southeast Polk worked around a season-high 16 points from Drake Slifer on Friday night as the Rams’ sophomore boys’ basketball squad downed the Bobcats, 73-43, at home.

Tony Smith and Sam Rogers had eight points apiece for Marshalltown, which is now 1-6 on the season.

Trevor Dolezal also had seven rebounds.

MHS will host Urbandale at Lenihan Intermediate School at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday.
