Panthers knock down treys, rout Illinois State
NORMAL, Ill. – The Northern Iowa women’s basketball team knocked down a season-high 11 3-pointers to help the Panthers pick up an easy 83-63 victory over Illinois State on Sunday in Missouri Valley Conference play.
All five starters reached double-figures for the Panthers (5-8, 1-1), who never trailed and led by as many as 26 points in the second half.
Stephanie Davison finished with a team-best 20 points and a career-best four 3-pointers, while Jen Keitel notched a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
Brittni Donaldson chipped in career-highs of five 3-pointers, 19 points and seven boards, while Brooke Brown and Hannah Schonhardt scored 13 and 11 points, respectively. The 13 points was a season-high for Brown.
UNI began the game on a 10-2 run and never looked back. It was 43-26 at the break and Northern Iowa outscored Illinois State (2-10, 1-1) by three in the second half.
The Panthers will return to action on Jan. 10 inside the McLeod Center when they host Evansville at 7 p.m.
