Bobcats’ loss to Huskies changed to forfeit victory
The Marshalltown boys’ basketball team lost to Des Moines Hoover 59-48 during the season opener at the Roundhouse way back on Dec. 3.
But the result will now officially go down as a victory for the Bobcats.
Marshalltown Activities Director Craig Huegel said this situation had been floating around for a little bit after Hoover contacted Marshalltown, admitting the use of an ineligible player.
Hoover then self-reported it to the Iowa High School Athletic Association and the game will officially be shown as a 2-0 win for the Bobcats.
Marshalltown will have no further comment on the game.
The Bobcats, now 3-7 overall, take on Johnston and Urbandale at the Roundhouse on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
Both games will follow varsity girls games and tip off around 7:45 p.m.
The forfeited loss drops Des Moines Hoover to 5-5 overall.
