Juanita was born December 12, 1931, to William and Winifred (Harris) Gallentine in rural Marshall County. She graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1951. Following graduation she worked in the office at Fisher Governor Co. Juanita was united in marriage to Alan Dodd on July 18, 1953, in Marshalltown. Partners in life for over 52 years, Juanita and Alan were also partners in business for almost 45 years. Together they owned and operated E-Z Sanitation Inc. with Juanita managing the office responsibilities and Alan handling the outside operations. Juanita was a lifelong member of Central Christian Church and also had belonged to the Kiwanis Kweens Club, SCI Club of rural Marshalltown, and the Williams Elementary PTA.
Above all Juanita loved and cherished her family and lavished that attention on the additions of each new generation. Like her mother, Juanita was known for her sense of personal style and being a good cook and put her talents to work in creating and maintaining a beautiful and hospitable home. Juanita especially delighted in decorating and buying gifts for Christmas, planning large family weddings, and helping with other events for family and friends. She lived her life exuberantly and generously, with great attention to detail and greater love.
Juanita will be missed by three daughters: Linda (Steven) Smith of Marshalltown, Karen (Bruce) McBride of Marshalltown, and Diana (Alan) Rayman of Huxley; ten grandchildren: Ashley (Frederico) Silva, Lindsey (Jared) Callahan, Kelsi (Karl) Schecht, Trenton Dodd, Blake Dodd, Jeffrey (Jolynn) Stoneking, Kathleen Stoneking, Tiffany (Corey Fischer) Kuiper, Taylor Rayman, and Matthew Rayman; seven great-grandchildren: Madison, Cael, Brody, and Alyssa Stoneking, Nash Daniel, and Austin and Allie Kuiper; and two sisters: Doris Pansegrau of Toledo, and Phyllis (Robert) Miller of Marshalltown.
