Bonus points help AGWSR matmen take out Hudson
ACKLEY – Four pins, a forfeit and two major decisions helped the AGWSR wrestling team to a win over Hudson on Thursday night.
The Cougars won the first five matches of the night and took eight of 14 overall during the 41-31 home triumph.
Class A No. 5 Clay Meinders earned a pin at 220, while Michael Young (285), Austin Dolleslager (106) and Cruz Vera (170) also claimed wins by fall. Caleb Meinders was given a forfeit victory at 195 and Miguel Reyes (126) and Ian Heetland (113) both earned bonus points with dominating major decision wins.
Clay Meinders scored his fall over Dalton McHorne with just two seconds left in the first period. Dolleslager’s match lasted just 27 seconds against Noah Skornia and Vera needed just more than a minute to pin Austin Pankey.
Reyes won 13-2 over Nathan Graves and Heetland beat Carson Wright, 17-3. Brandon Johnson also earned a win by decision.
Hudson closed the gap with pins at 138 and 145 and then even more when it was given a forfeit victory at 160. Luke Huber also earned a pin at 182.
The Cougars are next in action Tuesday at West Marshall. The double dual also features GRNT-GC.
