Grinnell student to be featured in February at Fisher Community Center

The Central Iowa Art Association invites the community to its next monthly artist exhibit and reception, Feb. 7 honoring the art of Gavin Warnock.

The wine and cheese reception will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the auditorium of the Fisher Community Center.

Gavin Warnock is a student at Grinnell College pursuing a degree in Studio Art, Physics and Education. When his degree is completed he hopes to teach high school physics, math and possibly art. He comments,

“Due to the educational components of my work, I plan to continue creating as a teacher for the joy of art and to use my work in the classroom,” he said.

Warnock’s art is created by using wood burning techniques, and also using Corn Syrup and Polarizers and fabric. This unique show should be very interesting to the general public. The exhibition will be on display until Feb. 27 in the Fisher Auditorium.

All shows are open to the public 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday unless the Auditorium is being used by the Chamber for assorted meetings.

The Central Iowa Art Association is an education driven member supported art organization that has been in existence since 1946. Local artists who need an opportunity to present a complete show to the public is invited to contact the Association for more information.

This is the last show the CIAA will be sponsoring until May. The March show will be student art work from the Marshalltown Schools and April will be art from area schools – East Marshall, West Marshall, GMG and BCLUW.
