Howe guids MCC women past Grand View JV, 73-58
DES MOINES – Finding her touch from long range, Jasmin Howe led the Tigers out of its recent slump.
The Australian guard drilled a career-high eight 3-pointers as the Marshalltown Community College women’s basketball team snapped a four-game slide with a 73-58 win over the Grand View University junior varsity Monday.
Howe shot 8-for-9 from deep to rack up 26 points and has scored 20 or more in six games this season, while also hitting at least four treys for the seventh time. Howe didn’t attempt a single shot inside the arc.
Mackenzie Gott added a paint presence with 17 points and nine rebounds, while Courtney Williams-Perry snared a team-high 10 boards.
Howe helped the Tigers (17-10) take a 33-29 lead at the break with a trio of 3s in the first half, before knocking down five after halftime to help MCC pull away.
Ashley Salgado tallied six points, eight assists and six rebounds, while Danielle Montgomery added 11 points off the bench in the non-conference game. No stats were available for the Vikings.
The Tigers return to Iowa Community College Athletic Conference play with a trip to Southeastern Community College at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
MCC is currently in fifth-place with a 7-7 league mark, while Southeastern is seventh at 3-11.
