Born on July 25th, 1939, in Marshalltown, he was the son of Russell and Irene (Miller) Rubenbauer. He graduated from the LeGrand High School’s Class of 1957 and attended one year at Iowa State.
On March 8th, 1959, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Christina Snyder, in Iowa City. The couple farmed near Dillon all their married lives. Mark was a faithful member, past congregational president and elder of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Dillon as well as past president of the LDF School Board, a member of the Marshall County Board of Adjustments and founding member of the East Marshall Scholarship Foundation. Mark was a true steward of the land, teaching students from other parts of the United States the privileges of land conservation. He was one of the first in the area to promote no-till farming. Most of all, he was a proud grandpa and great-grandpa.
Left to cherish his memory are Chris, his loving wife of nearly 55 years; his son Eric (Kerri) Rubenbauer, of rural Marshalltown; daughter, Leiah (Alan) Craun, of LeGrand; as well as his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Ashley (Travis) McFarland and Jacey and Maxim, all of Grimes; Justine (Daniel) Hoover and Kenny and Eliza, all of Huxley; Phillip (Jordan) Rubenbauer, of Marshalltown; Andrew Rubenbauer, currently attending UNI; David Stevens, of Marshalltown, and Angela Stevens, of LeGrand; Brenna (Brian) DeLong and Dallen, of Knoxville, Iowa and Jessica (Rick) Marks, of Garwin, as well as his only sister, Mary (Jared) Walter, of Clive.
In death, Mark rejoined his parents.
