Theodore D. “Ted” Goecke

CEDAR FALLS – Theodore D. “Ted” Goecke, 67, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, February 16, 2014, at his home.

He was born January 21, 1947, in Marshalltown, Iowa, son of Henry and Bernice Cooper Goecke. He married Julie Bahr on June 13, 1970, in Rochester, Minnesota.

He graduated from Durant High School, Muscatine Community College and the University of Northern Iowa. Following graduation from UNI, he served in the National Guard for six years. He held numerous jobs in the Cedar Valley, retiring in 2010 from the Cedar Falls Utilities after 21 years as a CAD draftsman. He served as past President of the Cedar Falls Exchange Club. Ted was an avid Panther fan. He joined the Panther Scholarship Club in the early 1970’s when it was known as the Century Club. He was involved in fundraising and volunteering with athletic events prior to the onset of health problems.

Survived by: his wife; two daughters, Alicia Goecke of Cedar Falls and Erin Goecke of Waterloo; twin brother, Tom (Sharon) Goecke of Roseburg, OR, and brother, Bill (Sharon) Goecke of Standish, MI; a granddaughter, Adelynne Lyons of Waterloo; and other family members.

Preceded in death by: his parents.

Visitation from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, March 9th at Richardson Funeral Service, Cedar Falls.
