Incidents

On Wednesday, an employee with Calvin Rockett, 2013 S. Center St., reported the purchase of fake green dot cards to pay fake energy bill in the amount of $1,457.30.

On March 13, Julio Elivarraras, 509 N. Fourth Ave., reported damage to the rear windshield on a 2002 GMC Envoy while parked at his residence. Estimated value of damage was $350.

On March 14, an employee at Blue Note, 102 W. Main St., reported the theft of miscellaneous drinks in the amount of $109.79.

On March 10, Jose Lopez Nunez, 708 Swayze St., reported hit and run damage to the driver side front quarter panel on a Dodge Stratus while parked at Swift & Co., 402 N. 10th Ave. Estimated value of damage was $500.

On March 10, Gabrille Ebrina, 511 Woodbury St. (Half), reported hit and run damage to the driver side front bumper on a Nissan Altima while parked at the residence. Estimated value of damage was $1,000.

Arrests

On Tuesday, Elora Adriana Contreras, of Tama, was arrested for possession of a Schedule II controlled substance-meth and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Monday, Brandon Scott Hinders, of St. Anthony, was arrested on a warrant for theft-fifth degree.

On Monday, Andrew Varnum, 502 N. Fourth Ave., was arrested for aggravated domestic assault-enhanced.

On Monday, Dagoberto Nicholas Rivera Valencia, Homeless, was arrested for harassment-first degree, domestic abuse assault-third or subsequent offense, burglary-first degree and violation of a no-contact order.

On Sunday, Dustin Moore, 503 N. Third St. Apt. #8, was arrested for interference with official acts, possession with intent to deliver-meth, harassment, possession of drug paraphernalia and carrying weapons.

On Sunday, Luis Fernando Martinez-Chavarria, 6087 W. State St., was arrested for operating while intoxicated-third offense.

On Saturday, Manuel Salvador Ochoa-Serna, 810 W. Boone St., was arrested for obstruction of emergency communications, interference with official acts, serious domestic assault, false imprisonment, two counts of aggravated assault and two counts of felony child endangerment.

On Saturday, Ryan Patrick Canavan, 1823 Wiese Garden Road, was arrested for operating while intoxicated-first offense.

On Saturday, Robert Lynn Wallace III, 103 Riverside Drive, made an initial appearance on a possession of a Schedule II controlled substance-meth and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Saturday, Mamed Nyatew John, 304 N. Third Ave. Apt. 1A, was arrested for serious domestic abuse assault.

On March 14, Damon Spencer, 1 W. Grant St. Apt. #2, was arrested for theft-third degree-enhanced.

On March 2, Nathan Michael Gerads, 318 Thomas Drive, was arrested for theft-fifth degree from Kwik Star.

On March 2, Jonathan Gage Morden, 1401 S. Seventh Ave. Apt. #201, was arrested for theft-fifth degree from Kwik Star.

Accidents

On Thursday, a car driven by Darvell Lamont Gamblin, 911 Finkle Ave., was eluding pursuit on Finkle Avenue, turned east onto High Street, at the intersection of East High Street and South Seventh Avenue it struck a utility pole owned by Alliant Energy snapping it in half and knocking the light at the top of it to the ground, continued on and was stopped back on Finkle Avenue where the driver was arrested. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Gamblin car was estimated at $5,000 while the utility pole received an estimated $2,000 in damage.

On Saturday, a vehicle driven by Chester Allen Killen, of Brooklyn Park, Minn., was attempting to park in the dormitory parking lot at Marshalltown Community College when it went out of control driving up onto the terrace and when it starting backing off the terrace it struck a legally parked pickup. No injuries were reported. Killen was cited for no insurance-accident. Damage to the Killen vehicle was estimated at $1,500 while the legally parked pickup received an estimated $3,500 in damage.

On Saturday, a pickup driven by Tanner Michael Uhde, 3112 170th St., was backing out of a private driveway in the 300 block of Edgewood Street when it collided with a pickup driven by Sandra Kay Johnson, 902 N. Fifth Ave., which was traveling east on Edgewood. No injuries were reported. Uhde was cited for unsafe backing. Damage to the Uhde pickup was estimated at $500 while the Johnson pickup received an estimated $3,000 in damage.

On Monday, a car driven by Ashley Marie Beaty, 1407 S. Seventh Ave. Apt. #108, was exiting a driveway onto Main Street when it collided with a minivan driven by Kenneth Eugene Perry, 205 N. 10th St., which was traveling west on Main Street. No injuries were reported. Beaty was cited for unsafe entry onto sidewalk or highway. Damage to the Beaty car was estimated at $2,500 while the Perry minivan received an estimated $500 in damage.

On Saturday, March 15, a minivan driven by Krystal Gean Randall, 102 N. 27th St., was backing up in a parking lot when it collided with a car driven by Andres Rodriguez Gutierrez, 307 1/2 S. Second St., which was entering the parking lot from the street. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Randall minivan was estimated at $600 while the Rodriguez Gutierrez car received an estimated $1,200 in damage.

On March 14, a car driven by James Allen Ward, of Gilman, was southbound on South Center Street on a green light when a semi driven by Andrew Handevidt Vernon, of Welcome, Minn., was attempting turn onto Berle Road and a collision occurred with the semi coming to rest in the terrace. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Ward car was estimated at $3,000.

On March 14, a vehicle driven by Laura Rivera Cortez, 407 S. Third St., was attempting to park at Dollar General, 408 S. Ninth St., when the driver’s foot slipped from the brake to the gas and it struck the building. No injuries were reported. Rivera Cortez was cited for failure to have a valid driver’s license or permit. Damage to the Rivera Cortez vehicle was estimated at $100 while the Dollar General building received an estimated $5,000 in damage.

On March 13, a minivan driven by Stephanie Lynn Balmer, of Green Mountain, was exiting a parking spot when it collided with the rear of a Toyota Venza damaging the attached bicycle rack. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Balmer minivan was estimated at $2,000 while the Toyota Venza bicycle rack received an estimated $30 in damage.

On March 12, a car driven by Codi James Hofer, 407 Plaza Heights Road, was exiting a parking spot in the Hy-Vee parking lot at the exact same time a car driven by Judith Marie Finch, 1516 Clinton St., was backing out and the two vehicles collided. No injuries were reported. Hofer was cited for no insurance-accident. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $1,000 each.

Citations

On Wednesday, Kristy Elizabeth Burrus, 409 W. Ingledue St., was cited for operating while intoxicated-first offense.

On Monday, Isaiah Jacob Parker, 711 Union St., was cited for theft-fifth degree.

On Tuesday, Robin Dee Olson, of Albion, was cited for public intoxication.

Wednesday

Felisha Ruby Kapayou, of Tama, made an initial appearance on three counts of a violation of pre-trial release charge. Two of the charges were referred to District Court for scheduling and a third one was referred to Magistrate Court for scheduling. Bond on all counts is $10,000 cash only.

Victor Tesdahl, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a failure to comply with the sex offender registry charge. The public defender’s office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on March 28. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety.

Daniel Jackson Moore, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge and a operation without registration charge. He pleaded guilty to both charges. On the driving under suspension charge the fine is $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50. The fine on the operation without registration charge is $50 with a $17.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $127.50.

Dustin Dean Umbaugh, of State Center, made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge, a no insurance charge and a improper registration charge. He pleaded guilty to all charges. On the driving under suspension charge and no insurance charges the fines are $250 each with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50 for each charge. The fine on the improper registration is $200 with a $70 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $330. The court allowed for monthly installment payments of $50 beginning April 18 until the debts are paid in full.

Isaiah Jacob Parker, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a theft-fifth degree charge. He pleaded guilty and was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $272.75. The court allowed for monthly installment payments of $50 beginning April 18 until the debt is paid in full.

Emmanuel Daily, address unknown, made an initial appearance on two counts of a theft-fifth degree charge. He pleaded guilty to both counts and was fined $65 for each with a $22.75 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $272.75 for each count. The court allowed for monthly payments of $50 beginning April 18 until the debts are paid in full.
