James Thomas Gilge, 73
James Thomas Gilge, 73, of Dixon, Ill., died Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at Dixon Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Dixon. He worked for Eagle Foods as produce manager for 43 years and had Jim’s Auto Repair for 30 years at his home.
James was born October 3, 1940, in Des Moines, IA, the son of Eric and Dorothy Mae (Peterson) Gilge. He married Renee Boyd on June 30, 1973, in Rockton, IL. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Dixon. He enjoyed traveling the U.S. in his camper, music events, and his family.
Survivors include his wife, Renee Gilge of Dixon; three sons, Cristopher (Denise Cox) Boyd of Sioux Falls, SD; Clint (Debbie) Gilge of O’Fallon, Cliff (Katie) Gilge of Rapid City, SD; one brother, Jerry Gilge of Garwin, IA; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended close family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter; and one sister-in-law, Kathy Gilge; his in-laws, Clinton and Helen Woodyatt; and two brothers-in-law, Ross and Robert Rippeon.
Visitation will be from 6 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 28, 2014, at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home, Dixon. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 29, 2014, at First Baptist Church, Dixon, with the Rev. Bunyan Cocar, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Dixon.
A memorial has been established to the Parkinson’s Support Group of Dixon and First Baptist Church, Dixon.
