No. 15 Reivers sweep MCC in ICCAC opener

COUNCIL BLUFFS – The Iowa Western Community College baseball team fared very well in the sixth inning of both of its games against Marshalltown on Saturday at Doc Ross Field.

The 15th-ranked Reivers plated five runs in the sixth frame of the opener to win 5-1 and then had another five-run sixth inning of game two during an 8-1 victory as Iowa Western handed the Tigers two losses in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference openers for both squads. MCC (8-14, 0-2) managed just five hits on the day.

Ryan Thrasher’s double was the only hit the Tigers could muster in the first game. Eric Kent, who hadn’t played since March 1, had an RBI, while Bennett Mann walked and scored the Tigers’ lone run.

The Tigers’ four hits came from Thrasher, Kent, Drayson Lum and Ty Russell. Kent and Russell both doubled, Kent scored MCC’s only run and Lum had the RBI.
