Tama County Engineer proposes bridge replacements
County Engineer Lyle Brehm presented plans for two bridge replacements at Monday’s Tama County Board of Supervisors meeting.
One bridge replacement will be in Grant Township, section 14 and the other in Clark Township, section 26. Bids will be let in June. The bridge in Clark Township is now closed to traffic and the bridge in Grant Township has a weight limit. Work date for the two bridges has not yet been set.
Brehm said the county road crew has been doing some patching in different places this past week and he also has a crew working on the gas pump at the Tama County Shop.
Susan Jones gave a report on a change in the county’s health insurance plan. Due to a mandate, coverage for acupressure and acupuncture by chiropractors has been changed.
There was a maximum of $15 per visit and now has been increased to as high as $78.
A utility permit request was approved for Windstream to do work at 2702 Highway E43.
Claims approved for payment for the past week came to $346,592.38.
The next board meeting will be at 9:30 a.m. on April 7.
