MCC bats go flat in loss at DMACC

BOONE – For the sixth straight game, the Marshalltown Community College baseball team struggled offensively and suffered defeat, falling 12-1 in five innings to host DMACC on Tuesday.

The host Bears battered MCC pitching for 12 runs on 13 hits, while DMACC’s staff limited Marshalltown (8-17) to just two hits over the run-rule-shortened victory.

A bases-loaded passed ball allowed the Tigers to tally their only run, as Eric Kent came across to score in the top of the fifth to make it 9-1.

DMACC ended the game with three runs in the bottom half, including a two-run, walk-off home run for Blake Molitor.

Kyle Duncan went the distance on the mound for DMACC, allowing one unearned run on two hits with nine strikeouts and no walks.

Draysun Lum and Brandon Bordonaro accounted for the Tigers’ only singles, while MCC starter Danny Smith was tagged for the loss.

Marshalltown rounds out a seven-game road trip on Thursday, visiting NJCAA Division II No. 19-ranked Kirkwood.
