Area schools art show opens Friday
Student artists from across Marshall County and a little beyond will have their work on display beginning Friday and running through April at the Fisher Community Center.
The area schools art show featuring work from BCLUW, East Marshall, GMG, St. Francis and West Marshall has returned.
Typically, there are a few dozen pieces of work selected from each school building in the show.
“It’s an honor for students to get their work selected,” said GMG art teacher Farren Johnson. “The best artwork gets chosen for the show.”
Johnson said she is especially pleased with some of the ceramic work produced by her students this school year, which will be on display at the show.
“My ceramics students have been really awesome,” Johnson said. “They came up with come creative ideas.”
Hallie Crouse, art teacher at East Marshall High School, is also pleased with her students’ work this year.
“As an art educator I am very pleased with the work that the students have been creating,” Crouse said. “I have work from each grade level represented which is always a good sign. The work from the upperclassmen is of course stupendous.”
A free public opening reception will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Fisher Community Center.
This year will feature live piano music from East Marshall senior Sam Schelp.
“She will play a variety of music as we enjoy the refreshments and the art,” Crouse said.
Those unable to make the opening reception can view the show during regular business hours at the Fisher Community Center through April.
