Tiger slugger Baker named ICCAC Player of the Week
Punishing the ball in nearly every other appearance at the plate, Marshalltown Community College softball sophomore Holli Baker was named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Offensive Player of the Week Tuesday.
The first baseman batted .467 from the dish during a 5-3 stretch for the Tigers. Baker hit 14-of-30 over an eight-game stretch including five multi-hit games. The Grimes native scored 11 runs and drove in 11 more, while belting four home runs during the week to tie Sarah Wilson for a team-high seven round trippers on the year.
Baker went 4-of-5 with a home run, double and 5 RBIs in an 11-6 win over Southwestern College on March 26.
The sophomore followed that by hitting 3-of-4 with two homers, a double and 3 RBIs in an 8-3 victory Friday over North Iowa Area Community College.
The Tigers travel to NJCAA Division II No. 11 Kirkwood Sunday for a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m.
