Royal girls claim three runner-ups at Earlham

EARLHAM – Angela Brinkman contributed to three medalist performances including the final event of the night as the Colo-NESCO girls’ track team claimed a trio of runner-up finishes at the shortened Earlham Early Bird Thursday.

Brinkman took second in the 400 hurdles, the final race of the night due to adverse weather, in a time of 1 minute, 26.92 seconds, while also taking silver with Kassie Robinson, Hallie Riese and Brandi Erickson in the shuttle hurdle relay. Brinkman also added a third-place finish in the high jump at a height of 4 feet, 4 inches, while Shayla Dean took second in the 400 in 1:10.01.

Grace Stalzer rounded out the Royals’ medal count with bronze in the 3,000 crossing the finish in 13:57.31.

Team scores were not tallied.

The Colo-NESCO boys took home a pair of bronze medals as Christian Reischauer covered the 200 meters in 24.91, while Brady Stoeffler, Caleb Vaughn, Clayton Bryan and Noah Gibbons finished the shuttle hurdle relay in 1:10.90.

The Royals got fourth-place finishes from Steven Cutler in the high jump (5-4), Taylor Hill in the 100 (12.03) and Vaughn in the 400 hurdles (1:17.35).
