Wilson runs scoreless streak to 23 innings, MCC sweeps

ESTHERVILLE – Sarah Wilson surrendered just three hits over 11 shutout innings, pitching both ends of the Marshalltown Community College softball team’s doubleheader sweep of Iowa Lakes on Saturday.

The Tiger bats backed her with 23 hits and 16 runs, ending both games early with consecutive 8-0 wins.

Wilson struck out six and walked three in tossing a two-hitter in the opener. Tacie Blunk went 4-for-4 with two RBIs, and McKenna Hotopp was 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Brooke Dunkin was 3-for-4 with two runs.

In game two, Wilson struck out five, walked two, and allowed just one hit to improve to 12-7.

Mackenzie Gott was 3-for-4 with three RBIs while Wilson was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and two RBIs to lead the MCC bats.

The Tigers (22-14, 8-8) go back out on the road Monday, facing the Mount Mercy College junior varsity squad today at 4 p.m.
