Stanley Dean Huston, 86

Stanley Dean Huston, 86, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 28, 2014, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 27, 2014, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. also at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Memorials may be directed to the family. Stanley Huston was born on October 25, 1927 in Marshalltown, Iowa; he was the son of Stanley Melvin and Hazel Hurlbut Huston. He attended the Marshalltown school district, graduating with the class of 1946. On July 29, 1950, Stanley was united in marriage to Doris Jane “Billie” Hausafus at her parents’ home in Marshalltown. They resided in Marshalltown their entire married life. Stanley served his country honorably in the United States Army from 1946 until 1947. Stanley had worked for Boss Trucking and the State Highway Patrol and then went on to be a Police Officer for the Marshalltown Police Department from January 16, 1958, retiring on November 23, 1982. Stanley was a member of the Mid Iowa Antique Power Association and the Family Campers and RV’ers. Stanley loved to garden, fish and work on antique engines. He would also make the trip to Canada eighteen years in a row and sometimes even twice in a year.

Left to cherish his memory is his children: Richard (Cathy) Huston of Choctaw, Oklahoma, Dale (Karen) Huston of Marshalltown and Kenneth Huston of Des Moines. Grandchildren: Michelle, Jennifer (Chad) Danielle (Mike) and Chris (Amber) and great grandchildren Dalen; who shares his birthday with his great grandfather Stanley and Leah.

Stanley is preceded in death by his wife Doris, parents, sister Josephine Bru, brother Clarence La Verne Huston and a great granddaughter in infancy; MiKayla.
