Community supports VFW, veterans

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 839 would like to express its heartfelt thanks to the Marshalltown community. We held our first fish fry on April 4 and the community astounded us with their presence. People arrived an hour before serving was to start and we never caught up! People patiently waited in line for their fish dinner, eager to support their veterans and enjoy a good meal! The volunteers were overwhelmed with the response and made sure to correct any snags for the next fish fry.

The next one ran much smoother with hardly any wait. The VFW’s fish fry dinners are an opportunity to raise funds that are needed to keep the new building in operation and keep our veterans visible in our community. Our members are committed to honoring veterans all year long. You may see veterans at funerals, serving in the Honor Guard and leading the way in parades, carrying the United States flag. Don’t miss out! Come in and support your local Veterans by enjoying a great meal and fellowship. Our next fish dinner is May 2. We will be serving from 4 to 7 p.m. Hope to see you there. Thank you for your support!
