Accidents

On Thursday, a car driven by Mary Joann Maxted, 501 Springfield Drive, was westbound through the Aldi’s parking lot when it struck a light pole and continued north onto the curb where it came to rest. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Maxted car was estimated at $5,000.

On Thursday, a car driven by River Joyce Bown, of Albia, was northbound on South Center Street approaching the intersection with West Southridge Road when it collided with the rear of a minivan driven by Ma Guadalupe Lopez De Torrez, 612 May St., which was stopped for a red light at the intersection. No injuries were reported. Bown was cited for failure to stop within an assured, clear distance. Damage to the Bown car was estimated at $5,000 while the Lopez De Torrez minivan received an estimated $2,500 in damage.

On Thursday, a car driven by Eric David Blau, of Rapid River, Mich., was traveling through the Marshall Town Center parking lot and attempted to turn west when it collided with a car driven by Ruth A. Lamca, 405 S. Second St., which was traveling west through the lot. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Blau car was estimated at $300 while the Lamca car received an estimated $1,500 in damage.

On Thursday, a car driven by Roberto Martinez Garcia, 202 N. 13th Ave., was making a wide turn from East Anson Street right onto South First Avenue when it sideswiped a car driven by Jana Beth Snodgrass, of Kellogg, which was stopped for a red light. No injuries were reported. Martinez Garcia was cited for driving on the wrong side of a two way highway. Damage to the Martinez Garcia car was estimated at $800 while the Snodgrass car received an estimated $1,500 in damage.

On Wednesday, a car driven by Shirley Eunice Goecke, 2506 W. Main St., was westbound on West Main Street approaching the intersection with Third Street when it collided with the rear of a car driven by Karla Marie Minear, 2702 W. Lincoln Way, which was stopped at the stop sign. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Goecke car was estimated at $2,000 while the Minear car received an estimated $1,500 in damage.

On April 16, a car driven by Gary Lee Shaw, 3071 280th St., was exiting a parking spot at Kum & Go and moving forward to go east when it collided with a car driven by Maria Luisa Ordonez, 510 N. 14th Ave., which was pulling into a parking spot at Kum & Go. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Shaw car was estimated at $500 while the Ordonez car received an estimated $2,000 in damage.

Sunday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a building fire at 408 W. High St., an alarm system activation-no fire-unintentional at 203 W. Iowa Ave., a dispatched/cancelled en route to 703 S. 12th Ave., and six medical assists with the EMS crew to: 122 W. Main St., 112 College Drive, 206 Nicholas Drive, 515 S. Fourth St., 18 E. Berle Road, and 410 1/2 W. Linn St.

Saturday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to six medical assists with the EMS crew to: 1607 Norris Place, 8 N. Sixth St., 1211 W. State St., 202 N. Second Ave., 3 W. Webster St., and 214 Player St.

Friday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to an alarm system malfunction at 1301 Summit St., an outside rubbish fire at 1919 Blossom Lane, and 12 medical assists with the EMS crew to: 409 1/2 W. Church St., 1 W. Grant St., 1601 W. Marion St., 312 W. High St., 2012 S. Sixth St., 206 Nicholas Drive, 509 Highland Drive, 3202 S. 12th St., 201 E. Church St., 305 Sharon Drive, 208 Glenda Drive, and 202 N. Second Ave.

Thursday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a false alarm at 212 W. Ingledue St., an alarm system sounding due to a malfunction at 1301 Summit St., an unintentional transmission of alarm at 124 S. 11th St., and five medical assists with the EMS crew to: 11 N. Seventh St., 114 N. Center St., 1211 W. State St., 2400 S. Center St., and 1008 E. State St.
