Redhawks find their way through
NORTH ENGLISH – Jayde Vogeler finished just a stroke shy of qualifying individually, but helped her team’s season continues.
Placing four in the top-13, the North Tama girls golf team advanced with a second-place score of 413 in the Class 1A Region 4A first round meet at Knoll Ridge Country Club Monday.
North Linn’s Jessica Franson captured medalist honors with an 11-over 83, finishing two strokes ahead of Dunkerton’s Brittany Norem. English Valleys swept the next three spots and claimed the team title with a 397.
Vogeler paced North Tama with a 99, while Madison Howard and Kodi Hillman carded 103s. Rian Weida’s 108 capped the team score, while Nichole Jones (112) and Madison Wood (135) also competed for the Redhawks.
Don Bosco (440) edged Dunkerton by six strokes for third, while Belle Plaine (461), North Linn (471) and GMG (488) rounded out the eight-team field.
Olivia Barritt’s 107 led the Wolverines and Summer Langenbau shot 112. Katie Airey (124), Josie Claassen (145) and Chandler Kendall (167) also competed for GMG.
North Tama will compete in a Class 1A regional final at Reinbeck’s Oak Leaf Country Club on May 27.
