Porter leads West Marshall into Class 2A regional meet
DIKE – Only seven strokes separated the Trojans’ top quartet as the West Marshall girls golf team extended its season with a runner-up finish at the Class 2A Region 3B first round meet at Fox Ridge Golf Course Monday.
Dike-New Hartford coasted to the team victory shooting a 359, while the Trojans (427) were 68 strokes back. Denver (437) edged Aplington-Parkersburg by three strokes for third and BCLUW (442) finished fifth out of eight squads.
The Wolverines’ Briana Weber carded an 8-over 80 on her home course for medalist honors as Denver’s Courtney Ott shot 85 for runner-up. Ashley Dumler (86) and Nikki Weissenfluh (94) placed third and fifth, respectively, for Dike-New Hartford and Aplington-Parkersburg’s Lyndie Koch (94) claimed the final qualifier spot.
Kenadey Porter paced the Trojans with a 104, while Claire Underwood and Madi Stalzer each turned in a 106. Rose Dawley (111) and Lauryn Juel (144) also competed for West Marshall.
No individual statistics were submitted for the Comets.
West Marshall advances to the Class 2A Region 3 final at Eagle Grove Country Club on May 27.
