SPORTS SHORT: Bobcat sophomores sweep Bluejays
The Marshalltown sophomore baseball team used a doubleheader sweep of Bondurant-Farrar on Friday to improve to 2-1 this season.
Sam Rogers got within two outs of a no-hitter before an RBI double broke up it and the shutout, but the Bobcats still prevailed 3-1 in the opening game.
The nightcap was a high-scoring affair, with Marshalltown snapping a 3-all tie with a five-run fourth inning on its way to a 10-6 victory.
Rogers allowed just one hit in game one. He walked four, hit one batter and struck out six in going the distance. Luke Severson doubled in a run and scored to lead the offense.
Joe Rebik went 3-for-3 with a double and two stolen bases to support his own cause in the second game. Rebik went four innings in relief on the mound to earn the win, striking out four and walking three.
Kyler Ladehoff and Severson both had a double.
