Arresting Hunger Food Drive a success

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the community at-large for the overwhelming support shown during the inaugural Arresting Hunger Food Drive. The amount of donations was absolutely phenomenal. To put the amount of donations in perspective, enough food was donated to provide 252 meals, as well as enough money was donated to purchase 97 gallons of milk. These are incredible numbers and I could not have asked for a better turnout from this event.

I would like to thank both Fareway and Hy-Vee for allowing this great event to take place on their respective premises, and providing great support towards the event in various ways.

I would also like to thank the individual businesses, institutions and organizations within the community that assisted in spreading the word about this event and gaining supporters for it. Without your efforts and influence, this event truly could not have been as successful as it had been.

Last, but not least, I want to thank all the members of the community that came out to support this event, whether through food donations, monetary donations, or simple verbal praises for the event. It was ultimately your support of and dedication towards this event that made it the success that it was. A lot of great memories and stories developed from this event including, but not limited to, the following:

A young lady decided to take time out of her special day by celebrating with us on her 16th birthday at this event. She gathered her friends and family and brought them down to the Food Drive to donate food.

A financial institution took two weeks prior to the event to gather food items from employees and customers to donate as an organization.

A lady also contacted customer service at one of the locations, gave her credit card number, and told them to purchase X amount of dollars worth of whatever items were needed for the Food Drive.

The bar has been set and I cannot wait to attempt to set the standard that much higher during the 2015 Arresting Hunger Food Drive.
