Children of the American Revolution meet at Taylor Schoolhouse
The Deborah Sampson Society National Society Children of the American Revolution of Ames met in Marshalltown at the Taylor No. 4 Schoolhouse on June 7.
A formal meeting was held by Society President Michelle Ankrum, of Marshalltown, and the program was given by Julie Jontz-Lang, Marshalltown, who led a reenactment of a school day in 1912. Members attending were: Ryan Hunt – Chaplain, of Marshalltown, Megan Rembert, of Ankeny, Isaac and Zach Harris, of Ames, Nikolai Katerina, and Danika Pecharsky, of Las Vegas, Nev. Susan Harris, Ames – Honorary Vice President General National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, and Senior President Deborah Sampson Society N.S.C.A.R, attended and gave a report of the recent State Conference.
Ankrum announced that the society received an Honorable Mention at the N.S.C.A.R. National Convention in Washington D.C. for her entry of a Veterans Memorial Essay and the society received four first place certificates at the Iowa Society C.A.R. Conference in West Des Moines.
Ankrum also announced that the Iowa Society C.A.R. Packet Meeting is to be held in Boone, Iowa at the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad & Museum on July 12.
