TOPS 1440 well represented at State Recognition Days

TOPS 1440 recently welcomed a married couple, Kenny and Cindy M. into their membership. About the same time, we learned that longtime member, Zelda V. will be leaving us as she relocates to Des Moines. Zelda will be greatly missed as she contributed a lot to the chapter.

Several members attended the annual State Recognition Days event in Des Moines May 30-31. They returned with rejuvenated enthusiasm and good ideas to share with the Chapter membership.

June 5 many members participated in a Chapter walk at a local Marshalltown park following a shortened regular meeting. The Chapter usually promotes two group walks a year to stress the importance of exercise in the weight loss journey as well as improving general health.

Frank Moran, manager of the GNC store in the Marshalltown Mall paid the Chapter a return visit on June 12. This time Frank talked about the recent increased interest in gluten free diets and gluten free foods. He told how much better people feel following this regime and it helps with weight loss. Per usual, Frank’s high energy lecture style evoked several lively discussions within the group.

Upcoming events for TOPS 1440 include a Silent Auction to bolster the Chapter’s treasury. TOPS 1440 is fully self funded. We take no funds from the general public. In fact, we make several donations to community groups during the Holiday season.

July 10 will be election of officers with the installation of officers to take place on July 31 in special ceremony.
