The American Legion Auxiliary Unit #46 met recently at the Post Home. Hostesses for the evening were Ellen Hazen and Bonnie Riemenschneider. The meeting was called to order by President Arlene Kremer. Minutes of the previous meeting and the treasurer’s report were read and approved.
President Kremer thanked members for their part in making Poppy Days a great success. Appreciation was also expressed for the volunteers of the American Legion Post #46, the Sons of the American Legion and the Sea Cadets who contributed their time also. President Kremer reported on the May Brunch. Seventeen guests including Department President Ann Crawford attended. Barb Blake announced that we had made 100 percent of the membership goal for the year. Two recommendations from the board were approved by the membership. They were to donate from Welfare to Iowa Veterans Home units for the purchase of activity boxes and to donate to the steak fry for poppy makers at IVH.
The slate of officers was presented and unanimously approved. Installation of officers will be held at the next regular meeting on July 8. The unit was reminded of the State Convention to be held in Coralville on July 11. The meeting closed with a song, a prayer and the retiring of the Colors.
