South Hardin edges G-R softball

GLADBROOK – The bottom half of South Hardin’s lineup scored all four of the Tigers runs in a 4-1 win over Gladbrook-Reinbeck to close out the NICL West Division softball schedule for both teams Thursday night.

Rachel Mildenhall, Cora Spainhower, pinch-runner Hannah Tripp and Hope Van Zante each scored a run as South Hardin (7-19, 5-16) made the most out of six hits from six different players. Alaina Lake, Michaela Friest, Spainhower and Van Zante each drove in runs in support of Lake, who struck out five and walked two.

Madison White took the loss for Gladbrook-Reinbeck (2-26, 2-19), striking out six and walking one. Nicole Adair and Amber Berendes both had two hits to lead the Rebels. Berendes drove in Katy Thompson, who had singled, as the lone run for G-R.
