Shoplifter found with drugs

A woman who allegedly shoplifted landed a felony after she was found with a stolen item and methamphetamine.

Stephanie Anderson, 40, of Marshalltown, was arrested after she was seen taking electronics from Walmart, 2802 S. Center St., Monday.

Capt. Chris Jones, with the Marshalltown Police Department, said after Anderson was caught taking the $80 worth of electronics, she was searched and authorities found a little more than two grams of meth in her purse.

Anderson is charged with possession of meth enhanced, a Class D felony and fifth-degree theft.

Man steals beer, runs away

A Marshalltown man was arrested for allegedly stealing beer then running away.

Cody Perry, 26, was arrested Wednesday, for the incident that happened July 15 at Kwik Star, 810 S. Third Ave., after police recognized him from the store’s video footage.

According to police, after Perry took the 18-pack of Budweiser he ran out the store’s emergency exit causing the business alarm to go off.

Perry is charged with third-degree theft enhanced and disorderly conduct.

He is held in the Marshall County Jail on a $4,000 cash or surety bond.

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to two dispatched/cancelled en route to 2106 Summit St., and 3700 S. Center St., and five medical assists with the EMS crew to: 206 Nicholas Drive, 509 Brentwood Place, 211 N. 10th St., 915 W. Merle Hibbs Blvd., and 206 N. First Ave.


The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to six medical assists with the EMS crew to: 1108 W. Iowa Ave., 922 N. Fifth Ave., 1 W. Grant St., 507 W. South St., 211 E. Olive St., and 512 E. Linn St.


The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a road freight or transport vehicle fire at 2850 240th St., two unauthorized burnings at 902 S. 12th Ave., and 205 W. Meadow Lane, and five medical assists with the EMS crew to: 512 E. Linn St., 1308 E. Olive St., 401 W. South St., 909 1/2 E. South St., and 1211 W. State St.

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 1105 S. 12th Ave., 7 N. 17th St., 505 Edgeland Drive, and 1006 W. State St.

On Monday, Troy David Laughlin, 910 S. Second Ave., reported the theft of a Galaxy 4 cell phone from his residence. Estimated value of loss was $500.


On Monday, Stephanie Lynn Anderson, 112 N. 13th St., was arrested for theft-fifth degree from Walmart and possession of a Schedule II controlled substance-methamphetamine-third or subsequent offense.

On Monday, Spencer Ray Dieleman, of Albion, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and operating while intoxicated-first offense.

On Monday, Lance Mandell Walker, 408 W. Nevada St., was arrested for interference with official acts and public intoxication-enhanced.

On Monday, Molly Kaye Bisson, 101 N. Second St., was arrested for felony domestic assault-enhanced.

On Friday, Justin Hooper, of Rhodes, was arrested for possession of a Schedule I controlled substance-marijuana with the intent to sell, eluding, interference with official acts and possession of drug paraphernalia.


On Wednesday, a semi with a trailer attached driven by Michael Lea Macgowan Jr., of Horseshoe Bay, Texas, was making a U-turn around the JBS scale house when it turned too sharply and struck a legally parked minivan owned by Elizabeth Maylene Weber, 508 E. Main St. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Macgowan semi was estimated at $100 while the Weber minivan received an estimated $3,500 in damage.
