Richard Lee Ecklor Jr., address unknown, made an initial appearance on a serious domestic abuse assault charge. The public defender’s office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Aug. 13. The court ordered that if he owned or possessed any firearms or ammunition, Ecklor is to contact the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office within 24 hours to make arrangements to surrender them. Bond is set at $1,000 cash or surety. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

Edgar Andrews, of Johnston, made an initial appearance through counsel, Brandon Ruopp, on a driving while barred charge and a operation without registration charge. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Aug. 13.

Jesse Ceniceros, 1118 May St., made an initial appearance on a probation revocation request involving three separate cases. The public defender’s office was appointed to handle his case. The probation revocation hearing is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 27. Ceniceros was released on his own recognizance and is still subject to all his probation regulations.

Bonilla Gonzalez was released on his own recognizance. The court ordered a substance abuse evaluation with the results due within 60 days of today’s date.

Emma Evelyn Ecklor, Franklin Motel Room #21, made an initial appearance on a simple assault. She pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9 a.m. on Aug. 26 in Magistrate Court. Ecklor was released on her own recognizance. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

Southridge Road, made an initial appearance through a Burmese interpreter on a operating while intoxicated-first offense charge and a violation of a restricted driver’s license charge. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Aug. 13. Aye was released on his own recognizance. The court ordered a substance abuse evaluation with the results to be submitted within 60 days of today’s date.

Courtney Michelle Kinnetz, 911 W. State St., made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. She pleaded guilty and the fine is $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50, due within 30 days of today’s date.

Brad Alan Thomsen, 1503 Laurel Drive, made an initial appearance on a open container charge. He entered a plea of guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due within 30 days.

Nicole Lynn Walters, 1004 May St., made an initial appearance on a possession of drug paraphernalia charge and a open container charge. She pleaded not guilty to the possession of drug paraphernalia charge and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9 a.m. on Aug. 26 in Magistrate Court. On the open container charge Walters entered a plea of guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due within 30 days.

Clinton Joseph Hilleman, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a failure to yield upon entering charge. He pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due within 30 days.

A 16-year-old male made an initial appearance on a curfew violation charge. He entered a plea of guilty and the fine is $100 with a $35 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $195, due within 30 days.

A 17-year-old male made an initial appearance on a curfew violation charge. He pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9 a.m. on Aug. 5 in Magistrate Court.

Accidents

On Friday, a car driven by Santa Rai, of Des Moines, was southbound on Marshalltown Boulevard when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Rai car was estimated at $2,000.

Marshalltown Fire Department

Wednesday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to an outside rubbish fire at 509 S. Fourth St., and four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 113 N. Third St., 11 E. Church St., 206 W. Grant St., and 2907 S. Sixth St.

Tuesday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to an overheated motor at 709 S. Center St., and five medical assists with the EMS crew to: 24 W. Church St., 407 W. Merle Hibbs Blvd., 2006 Skyline Drive, 211 W. Church St., and 211 E. Olive St.

Monday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to an extrication of victims from vehicle on North First Street and three medical assists with the EMS crew to: 206 Nicholas Drive, 2303 S. Eighth St., and 220 N. 13th St.
