Liscomb Legion Auxiliary holds July potluck

The Liscomb Legion Auxiliary Unit #87 met on July 10 at the home of Marvyl Clemens in Union for a noon potluck. Eight members shared the patriotic decorated table.

President Sharon Hatch called the meeting to order at 1 p.m. Chaplain Bonnie Davis gave the opening prayer. We recited in unison the Pledge of Allegiance and the Auxiliary Preamble, a moment of silence was observed for the deceased veterans, POW/MIAs.

The secretary read June meeting minutes. Candy Wait reported on helping Iowa Veterans Home residents with Bingo. There were about 90 residents in attendance.

Vickie Penner reported on the IVH Ladies Luncheon. Four members of the Unit attended. Past-President Dorothy Sorensen installed the new president, Sharon Hatch, first reading a prayer then reading the president’s duties to the Auxiliary.

President Hatch presented Sorensen with a gift from the Unit for her many years as serving as the president.

The Unit will help all Marshall County Units at the IVH with Bingo on Aug. 15.

President Hatch asked all committee chairpersons to retain their position for 2014-15. All agreed to the request.

Candy will print new member books. She also had two readings: “5 Simple Rules to be Happy” and “Days of the Week Prayer Guide.” She added another reading, “Say a Prayer.”

There is no August meeting. The next meeting will be at the Penner house in Liscomb at 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 4.
