Ken Smith, board member of Mid-Iowa Antique Power Association shared pictures and videos of the 2013 Power Show. The first president of MIAPA (Mid-Iowa Antique Power Association) was Don Fleming, a member of noon Kiwanis. Fleming and a group of interested area citizens had the first several shows at the Marshalltown Community College south of Highway 30. The show was then moved to the present location on Jessup Avenue near the County Jail, about eight miles west of Highway 14 on Highway 30.

MIAPA rents land where oats and corn are grown for threshing and shelling demonstrations and rents buildings for displays and storage from Marshall County. MIAPA is dedicated to preserving farming as it was done in Iowa and the Midwest in the early 1900s. The 13th Annual Show will be Aug. 1-3. Show information is on the club website: www.miapa.org

Donations were collected for the Under Privileged Children’s Fund. Next week a program will be presented by Don Lamb. If any high traffic Marshalltown business would like to have a Kiwanis Gumball Machine placed in their place of business, call: 641-485-2087.

Anyone in the community wishing information about Kiwanis is invited to attend a regular Tuesday meeting or visit www.marshalltownkiwanis.org/
