Woman hits husband with cell phone

A Marshalltown woman landed charges after she allegedly hit her husband on the shoulder with a cell phone.

Tricia Walker, 30, was arrested Sunday, for the alleged incident, that happened with her husband whom she was separated from while they were talking about family issues.

Capt. Mike Hanken, with the Marshalltown Police Department, said Walker got upset with the conversation.

During the incident their 5-year-old daughter was present.

The victim had red marks on his shoulder and did not require medical attention.

Walker is charged with serious domestic assault and child endangerment.

Monday

Paul Hopkins, 204 N. 14th Ave., made an initial appearance on a possession of Schedule II controlled substance with intent to deliver charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. The public defender’s office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Aug. 7. Bond is set at $100,000 cash only. When Hopkins obtains release he will have 60 days from that date to secure a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court.

Bradley Moeller, of Tama, made an initial appearance on a possession of a firearm by a felon charge. The public defender’s office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Aug. 7. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety.

Jonathan Lee Robinson, Homeless, made an initial appearance on a failure to comply with sex offender residency charge and parole violation charge. Melissa Nine was appointed as counsel on the parole violation. Robinson’s parole hearing will be scheduled by his parole officer. No bond is allowed in this case. On the failure to comply charge the public defender’s office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Aug. 7. Bond is $2,000 cash only.

Carrie Kleinman, 109 N. Second St., made an initial appearance on a possession of a Schedule II controlled substance-methamphetamine-second offense possession charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. The public defender’s office was appointed to handle her case. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Aug. 7. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety. The court ordered a substance abuse evaluation with the results submitted within 60 days of release.

Tricia LeAnn Walker, 1311 E. Boone St., made an initial appearance on a child endangerment charge and a serious domestic assault charge. The public defender’s office was appointed to handle her case. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on July 15. The court ordered that if Walker owned or possessed any firearms or ammunition, she is to contact the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office within 24 hours to make arrangements to surrender them. Walker was released on her own recognizance. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

Jeffrey Allen Pepe, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a no insurance charge and a driving while revoked charge. He pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9 a.m. on Aug. 26 in Magistrate Court.

Cheri Nicole Mora, 6 S. Sixth St., made an initial appearance on a dog at large charge. She pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due within 30 days of today’s date.

Shaun Owen Kudelka, 8 W. Webster St., made an initial appearance on a criminal mischief charge, a public intoxication charge and a disorderly conduct charge. He pleaded guilty to all charges and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75 on each count. The court allowed a monthly payment plan of $50.

On Saturday, Nicole Lynn Osborne, 408 N. Third St. Apt. #2, reported the theft of a 60 inch Vizio TV from her residence valued at $1,636.99.

On Saturday, Darin Sauer, 202 N. 14th Ave., reported the theft of a shotgun, two high school class rings, a wedding ring and a pocket watch from his residence. Estimated value of loss was $800.

On Saturday, Christopher Tony Bounmy, 110 N. First Ave. Apt. A, reported the theft of a Sony PlayStation 3 game system, 15 PS3 games, a Nintendo Wii console with three remotes and 10 Wii games from his residence. Estimated value of loss was $1,873.

On Saturday, Sabrina Louise Holcombe, of Rhodes, reported the theft of a battery from a 1992 Dodge Dakota while parked at 310 N. Second St. Estimated value of loss was $110.

On Friday, Johnathon Davis, 5 E. Grant St., reported the theft of Vicodin pills, house keys, a Sony DSC camera, a tripod, a Sony lithium battery and an 8 GB memory card. Estimated value of loss was $475.

On Monday, Melissa Espinoza, 702 E. Main St. Apt. #1, reported the theft of a Samsung S4 mini cell phone. Estimated value of loss was $150.

On July 21, Alice Marie Scovill, 712 Bromley St., reported a money scam involving three transactions amounting to $2,071.50.

On Friday, Daniel LeRoy Campbell, 206 N. First Ave. Apt. #4, was cited for interference with official acts.

On July 22, Shauna Rae Hatchitt, 911 S. Second Ave., was cited for rabies vaccination violation.

Accidents

On Saturday, a car driven by Micheal Allen Sumpter, 312 N. Fourth Ave., was westbound on Woodbury Street stopped at the intersection with North Third Avenue and proceeded forward initiating a left turn when it collided with a Harley Davidson driven by Christopher Wayne Kadner, 2834 Merle Hibbs Blvd., which was traveling north on Third Avenue. No injuries were reported. Sumpter was cited for failure to yield the right of way on a left turn and operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license. Damage to the Sumpter car was estimated at $300 while the Kadner Harley received an estimated $2,000 in damage.

On Friday, a car driven by a 17-year-old female from Le Grand was northbound on South 18th Avenue when it collided with the rear of a vehicle driven by Patricia Jeanne Krough, of Montour, which was stopped awaiting to turn left onto East Nevada Street. No injuries were reported. The juvenile was cited for following too close and speeding. Damage to the Krough vehicle was estimated at $2,000 while the 17-year-old’s car received an estimated $4,000 in damage.

On Thursday, a minivan driven by Alissa Kay Harem, of Le Grand, was traveling north on the Frontage Road running parallel to Center Street when it attempted to go around a vehicle driven by Karen Catherine Elder, 201 Columbus Drive, resulting in the sideswiping of the Elder vehicle. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Harem minivan was estimated at $2,500 while the Elder vehicle received an estimated $1,000 in damage.

On Sunday, July 20, a car driven by Terry Lee Olmstead, 6 W. Webster St., was westbound on Byron Street at the intersection with First Avenue when it made a wide left turn and sideswiped a legally parked vehicle owned by Debbie Sue Aldinger, 515 E. Olive St. #4. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Olmstead car was estimated at $2,000 while the Aldinger vehicle received an estimated $5,000 in damage.

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a building fire at 909 S. Third Ave., a motor vehicle accident with injuries at 2200 Marshalltown Blvd., and nine medical assists with the EMS crew to: 134 E. Main St., 2019 S. Fifth Ave., 812 N. Fifth Ave., 1012 S. Center St., 1108 Iowa Ave. West, 207 Pine St., 905 Iowa Ave. West, 2005 Wardview Drive, and 905 Iowa Ave. West.

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 308 E. Boone St., 1508 Lincoln Way, 2907 S. Sixth St., and 1211 W. State St.
