Earnest Earl Taylor, 408 W. High St., made an initial appearance on a possession of methamphetamine-third or subsequent offense charge, an escape charge and a theft charge. The public defender’s office was appointed to handle his case. A preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Aug. 8. Bond is set at $6,000 cash only combined for all charges.
Jamie Ranea Connett, 920 May St., made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge. The public defender’s office was appointed to handle her case. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Aug. 18. Connett is released on her own recognizance.

Holly Doyle, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a violation of a no-contact order charge. A scheduling hearing is set at 1 p.m. on Aug. 11 to set the contempt hearing. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case.
Rogelio Minjares-Simental, address unknown, made an initial appearance through counsel, Chad Frese, on a failure to appear for a pre-trial conference on a operating while intoxicated-second offense charge. The pre-trial conference is rescheduled at 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 15. Minjares-Simental is released on his own recognizance.
Marc D. Gethmann, 205 N. 14th St., made an initial appearance through counsel, Norma Meade, on a disorderly conduct charge. He pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due within 30 days of today’s date.
April Marie Engelkes, address unknown, made an initial appearance on two counts of a driving under suspension charge, a speeding charge and two counts of a no valid driver’s license charge. A pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9 a.m. on Sept. 23 in Magistrate Court.

On Monday, an employee with Walmart, 2802 S. Center St., reported the theft of cash in the amount of $1,040.
On Saturday, Julie Christina Sly, 509 E. Olive St. Apt. #3, reported the theft of an Apple 5C cell phone while at the Marshalltown Public Library. Estimated value of loss was $400.
On Tuesday, Dennis Wilkerson, 208 S. Third St. Apt. #4, reported the theft of a bicycle from a hallway in his apartment building. Estimated value of loss was $200.
On Monday, Monte Harvey Aman, 208 N. Center St., reported the theft of an Apple iPad mini with otterbox cover from his residence. Estimated value of loss was $395.
On Monday, a staffer with AEA 267, 909 S. 12th St., reported damage to a two by 10 foot glass window. Estimated value of damage was $1,000.
On Monday, Rusty Ray Mann, of Dike, was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.
On Tuesday, Robert Douglas Perdue, 711 E. Linn St. Apt. #3, was cited for theft-third degree-enhanced.
On Friday, a vehicle driven by Amy Marie Williams, 1609 Iowa Ave. W, was southbound in the 800 block of South Third Avenue approaching the intersection with East Anson Street when it collided with the rear of a pickup driven by Russell Eugene Matney, of Liscomb, which was stopped for a red light. No injuries were reported. Williams was cited for failure to stop within an assured, clear distance. Damage to the Williams vehicle was estimated at $2,000 while the Matney pickup received an estimated $100 in damage.
On Tuesday, Anita Marie Nevarez, 503 Summit St., was arrested for driving while barred.

On Saturday, Jessica Lynn Hinders, of State Center, was arrested for serious assault.
On July 14, a minivan driven by Pamela Marie Wells, 1725 Prairie Ave., was southbound on Prairie Avenue when a deer entered the roadway from the east ditch and was struck. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Wells minivan was estimated at $2,300.
